19.10.06 Olly competes in Beijing This event invites countries participating within the Olympic Triathlon event to take a team to try out the course ahead of 2008. Before competing at Beijing, Olly went to Macau for the Asian ITU World Cup Race. He triumphed in second place in a time of 1:45:29, just nine seconds behind the winner Dmitriy Gaag from Kazakhstan. Olly's sister, Henny, who was also competing in Macau finished 3rd in the women's race, less than a minute behind the winner. Following Macau, Olly found he had been selected to take part in the Beijing pre-curser for the British team. Olly saw this as a fantastic opportunity and raced hard on the Olympic distance (1.5k swim / 40k bike / 10k run) and finished 25th in time of 01:55:46 with the race being won by Frederic Belaubre of France in 1:52:47. This was a very respectable fourth place within the British team, beating GB elite Will Clarke for the very first time in his career and establishing himself further as one to watch for the GB squad in 2008 07.08.06 Congratulations to Olly in The London Tri 2006! "Olly Freeman is a highly talented and ambitious young athlete, with a great personality - we believe he is an ideal ambassador for us and represents the drive and commitment shown by our successful independent distributors around the world," added Roberts.
